Alabama beats Louisiana State 197.025 to 196.575
Despite slightly underperforming on bars, Alabama was still able to come out on top at Louisiana State, defeating the Tigers after an exciting meet.
Rotation 1. LSU did well on vault, with no real issues. They earned a 49.15 total and Rheagan Courville did best for the team, earning a 9.9 and the third place spot. Bama wasn’t at their best on bars, hitting routines but staying in the 9.8 range, with Geralen Stack-Eaton and Ashley Priess each hitting a 9.875 to tie for first. Their total was a 49.15.
Rotation 2. As LSU moved to bars, they had some minor struggles with handstands and they weren’t sticking landings, so they had to count some 9.7 range scores for a 48.975 total; Sarie Morrison’s 9.85 was the best for the team, and she took the third place spot on this event. Bama had a pretty good vault rotation, with some issues but two huge vaults from Marissa Gutierrez and Diandra Milliner, who each took a 9.925 to tie for first; their total was a 49.3.
Rotation 3. Definitely one of LSU’s best beam rotations with all scores to count in the mid 9.8 range and a 49.1 total score. Kaleigh Dickson, Randi Lau and Jessie Jordan each hit for a 9.85, leaving them out of title contention but it was still pretty awesome to see them all hit. Floor went well for Bama but once again it wasn’t their strongest attempt; they earned a 49.225 with Stack-Eaton and Milliner earning 9.9s, tying for second place.
Rotation 4. An exceptionally great rotation for LSU! The lowest to count was a 9.825, and Lloimincia Hall nailed her routine for a huge 9.95 to take the title! Their total was a 49.35, matching Bama’s 49.35 on beam for the highest event score of the night. Despite Bama’s high score, they did see a fall from Milliner, though thankfully they didn’t need to count it thanks to big scores elsewhere, including a 9.925 from Ashley Priess, who took the title and once again saved the day on this apparatus.
